READY TO FRUIT MUSHROOM KITS

Mushroom Kit returns and refunds

We do not offer returns or refunds for Mushroom Kit purchases if you’ve ordered the wrong item or have changed your mind. This is due to it being a perishable product.

Mushroom Kit troubleshooting

If you see no activity after following the instructions after two weeks, send us an email with photographs to hello@littleacre.com.au. We will offer troubleshooting advice to help grow your mushrooms.

Mushroom Kits contain a living mycelium culture and have a USE BY date on the bottom of the packaging. You must start growing your Mushroom Kit within this USE BY date. Any kit not activated before the USE BY date will not be eligible for store credit or refunds.

If you receive a Mushroom Kit and you’re not ready to start growing it please store the kit in the fridge until you’re ready to start. Storing Mushroom Kits in the fridge will place the mycelium into a hibernation state and you can store it refrigerated for up to six months. All Kit varieties can be stored in the fridge with the exception of Pink Oyster Mushroom Kits. These can not be stored in the fridge as it will kill the mycelium. Please start Pink Oyster Mushroom Kits as soon as you receive them.

MUSHROOM SPAWN & CULTURES

Mushroom spawn quality guarantee

Little Acre Gourmet Mushrooms is committed to supplying high quality mushroom spawn and mycelium products. All of our mushroom spawn is grown on Certified Biodynamic Australian wheat grain and is cultured and inoculated in the highest quality clean room and laboratory facilities.

Grain is sterilised in an industrial autoclave at 121ºC before inoculation with mycelium culture and is supplied free of any contaminants. Once you have used the spawn/mycelium product or opened the sealed bag which it has come in we can not take responsibility for contamination if it occurs.

The mushroom spawn you are purchasing is exactly the same product we use for our own mushroom farm and strains are continually tested for vigour and yield.

We will work with you to ensure our product meets expectations. Spawn and strain performance is dependent on growing conditions, inoculation technique and substrate mixes.

Mushroom spawn and culture use

Use of mushroom spawn purchased from Little Acre Gourmet Mushrooms is intended for the cultivation of fresh mushrooms and products derived from the growth of fresh mushrooms. You may use our mushroom spawn to make your own mushroom products.

You are not permitted to directly resell any mushroom spawn or cultures purchased from littleacre.com.au

Mushroom spawn is sold with the assumption of the customer’s prior knowledge of mushroom growing. It does not come with instructions on how to inoculate or expand into bulk substrate. If you do not know how to use mushroom spawn or cultures we suggest trying a ready to fruit grow kit instead.

Mushroom spawn is Generation 2 (G2) unless otherwise stated. This means it is ready for expansion to bulk substrate for the purpose of growing fresh mushrooms. Further grain to grain expansion of the mycelium to G3 spawn or beyond is not recommended and can lead to increased chance of contamination, loss of vigour and lesser yields.

Mushroom spawn is available in 1kg or 2kg bags. Mushroom spawn comes in a specialised spawn bag with a 0.2 micro filter patch.

Upon receipt, store your mushroom spawn in the fridge until ready to use. Please note Pink Oyster spawn needs to be stored at 10ºC. Storing Pink Oyster spawn below 10ºC will kill the mycelium. If you refrigerate spawn, take it out of the fridge and leave out at room temperature for 24 hours before use.

Storage instructions, substrate suitability, and recommended growing conditions are listed on the product pages for each species.

Mushroom spawn transportation and temperature conditions

Mycelium is extremely sensitive to transportation. The biggest risk is overheating during transit.

When mycelium is transported above 5°C it will start to grow. As a result, it will self-heat. The larger the volume, the worse this effect due to the accumulation of thermal mass. This causes two main problems:

  1. Ageing the mycelium, reducing the quality.
  2. A bag of spawn can overheat to the point of death in less than 24 hours.

Transporting spawn in Australia’s climate is difficult. As growers ourselves, we’re acutely aware of the disappointment of receiving a cooked box of spawn.

We strongly recommend choosing an Express shipping option when purchasing mushroom spawn. While we will do everything possible to ensure the viability of spawn ordered through our website we will not accept any responsibility for overheated spawn if you do not choose an Express shipping option.

Shipping rates are calculated on cubic weight, i.e dimensions of your package and weight of your package. Rates will vary depending on your location and some transport options are not available in some locations.
